My
name is David Landis, president and manager of Landis Productions.
I imagine you're staring at this imposing waterfall of words
and thinking to yourself, "where is the art?" But
before you dash off to the portfolio section, I recommend you take a moment to understand
our philosophy. Landis Productions enjoys the honor of working
with a wide variety of clients—from large corporations
to small businesses and even sole proprietors and non-profit
organizations. What each client understands (or soon discovers
after initiating a project) is one simple truth.

It's a competitive world where the increasingly global community
creates an environment where products and services are often
equal in quality. Thus, design is seen as the critical
advantage for everything—the spark that
differentiates you from the crowd. For a design to be successful,
it must be stimulating and create a strong emotional response.
But even more important, it must be practical in getting across
your message and soliciting the desired outcome. This is achieved
with a carefully researched attack that can utilize form, color,
typography, image and sound across a wide variety of media. So
design is more than attractive imagery—it's
a hard-working problem solver. Design makes a huge difference in
how your product or service is perceived by an audience and can
ultimately determine failure or victory. Bold statements? Yes.
But after working in this industry for more than 16 years, I know
it's true.

Clients choose Landis Productions for three main reasons:
1)
Studio structure
2) Experience and award-winning design
3) Philosophy of creative invigoration
I received my
four-year degree specifically in Mass Communications / Advertising
(Virginia Commonwealth University class of 1992). Soon
afterwards, I got my feet wet in the industry by working for
a mid-sized magazine studio, a small print shop and eventually
a large advertising agency. I also spent long evenings doing
design projects on a freelance basis. After working with clients
in a variety of these settings, I realized that a studio
structure was
the most efficient way to provide the best design product for
a reasonable cost and Landis Productions became incorporated
in 1994. A studio structure allows the use of clear, frequent
communication within a planned schedule of
"production events," the client and designer form a
partnership that can generate innovative results without high
amounts of stress. In fact, many of our clients admit that projects
are "more fun" than
they expected!
Landis Productions has been responsible for the design of more
than 4000 unique projects ranging from magazine, corporate branding
and packaging solutions to web page, multimedia and product design.
Expert-level experience with the latest design software as well
as natural media skills and an intimate knowledge of the printing
industry have led to many award-winning design solutions.
As I have suggested already, effective design is more than just an attractive layout. At Landis Productions we strive to infuse all of our projects with what we like to call creative invigoration. By
asking questions like, "How can we make the interaction with the client more effective?" And, "If we re-think the layout of this piece can we save money at the print shop?" Or, "Is there a better way to deliver this message to an intended audience?" Answers to these types of questions only come with years of experience—and
a desire to utilize the creative process on a deeper level.

Whenever we can, we enjoy involving the client (as much as
they would like to be) and share with them the reasons behind
the our design solutions. You'll see many examples of this
as we present you with some
background information about the design industry in each section
of our portfolio. Our clients are seen as partners on an exciting
expedition—one
filled with intrigue, discovery and opportunity.
I look forward to sharing this journey with you. |
